Failure Modes
FAILURE MODESFuel injectors can experience a number of different failure modes that can cause the following types of problems:
No Start
A fuel injector which does not open may cause a no start condition.
Long Crank Times
An injector which is stuck partly open will cause a loss of pressure after the vehicle has been setting, so long crank times would be noticed.
Dieseling
Dieseling, or running on, could occur because fuel continues to be delivered to the engine after the key is turned "OFF."
Stalling or No-Start
An injector stuck completely open will cause a stall or no-start condition.
