Oil Change Reminder Lamp: Service and Repair
DESCRIPTIONThe "CHANGE OIL" warning/indicator lamp is intended as a supplement to the oil change intervals listed in the maintenance schedules. The "CHANGE OIL" lamp should only be used as an aid to help determine oil change intervals.
RESETTING THE "CHANGE OIL" LAMP
Reset the engine oil life monitor as follows:
1. Turn ignition switch to "ON" position, but don't start engine.
2. Depress accelerator pedal to wide open throttle position and release it three times within five seconds.
3. If "CHANGE OIL" indicator goes out, system has been reset.
4. If "CHANGE OIL" indicator does not reset, turn ignition switch to "OFF" and repeat procedure. If indicator does not reset, a computer malfunction or wiring problem may be indicated.
NOTE: Reset the "CHANGE OIL" light after every oil change, even if the "CHANGE OIL" message did not come on.
