Vehicles Involved, Owner, Dealer & Parts Information

VEHICLES INVOLVED

All 1989 Eldorado and Seville model vehicles within the following VIN ranges require this campaign (Cadillac records indicate that a total of 7,560 vehicles are affected):

Group 1 Group 2

Eldorado KU600001 - KU602287 KU602288 - KU604323
Seville KU800001 - KU801689 KU801690 - KU803239

There are 3,975 vehicles in Group 1 and 3,585 vehicles in Group 2. Each group has a separate Service Procedure. It is anticipated that less than 10% of the wheel bearing assemblies within the Group 1 VIN ranges will require replacement. Vehicles within the Group 2 VIN ranges should not require any wheel bearing assembly replacements.

OWNER NOTIFICATION

OWNERS OF VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THIS CAMPAIGN WILL BE NOTIFIED BY LETTER FROM CADILLAC MOTOR CAR COMPANY. A COPY OF THE OWNER LETTER IS ATTACHED.

DEALER LIST

A list of vehicles involved, which our records indicate were sold by or shipped to you, is enclosed for your follow-up. This listing contains owner names and addresses obtained from Cadillac delivery records. You are urged to limit the use of this list to the followup necessary to complete this campaign. If no list is enclosed, none of the suspect vehicles are known to be in your area.

We suggest you use the list of vehicles involved to order your initial parts requirements as soon as possible.
DEALER CAMPAIGN RESPONSIBILITY

Dealers are to service all vehicles involved in this campaign, at no charge to owners, regardless of mileage, age of vehicle, or ownership.

Whenever a vehicle subject to this campaign is taken into used car inventory, dealers are to take the steps necessary to be sure the campaign correction has been made before reselling the vehicle.

Dealers are to contact the owners of the vehicles indicated on their Dealer List and arrange for the campaign correction to be performed.

In addition, dealers are to perform the campaign on all affected vehicles as they are brought in for any kind of service.

PARTS INFORMATION

The parts required to complete this campaign should be obtained from the Parts Distribution Centers of General Motors Service Parts Operations (GMSPO). A description is provided below:

NOTICE: Parts must be ordered according to VIN range. Be certain to check the VIN of the vehicle being serviced to obtain the correct parts. Refer to the Vehicles Involved section of this bulletin.

*NOTICE: Each Service Kit contains 2 Splined Washer Adaptors, 2 Washers, 2 Prevailing Torque Nuts and 2 Nut Retainers for servicing both the left and right front drive axles.

**NOTICE: It is anticipated that less than 10% of the wheel bearing assemblies within the Group 1 VIN ranges will require replacement. Bearing assemblies are not included in the Service Kit and must be ordered separately. Please adjust your parts orders accordingly. In addition, brake caliper mounting bracket to knuckle bolts (P/N 22529144) must be replaced when wheel bearing assembly replacement is required (2 per side).

If there is difficulty obtaining these parts using normal ordering procedures, dealers may place a C.I.O. using advise Code "2" with no special instruction code. The parts may also be ordered on V.I.P. order; however, unless prior zone approval is obtained, dealers will be required to absorb any surcharge involved under the V.I.P. system.
