Remove or Disconnect

1. Negative battery cable.
2. Center and lower instrument panel trim plates.
3. Left hand sound insulator panel.
4. Shift indicator cable.
5. Ignition, headlight dimmer, cruise control, turn signal and washer/wiper connectors form the steering column. See figure 3B2-7. The black ignition switch connector must be removed before the blue ignition switch connector.
6. Selector (range) lever cable from steering column, Figure 3B4-8.
7. Bolt connecting steering shaft to intermediate shaft, Figure 3B4-6.
8. Bolts connecting steering column to bracket, Figure 3B4-8.
9. Column from car.
Install or Connect
1. Intermediate shaft coupling to steering column shaft, Figure 3B4-6
2. Steering column mounting bolts, Figure 3B4-8.
- Tighten Intermediate shaft bolt to 47 Nm (35 lb ft).
- Tighten Steering column mounting bolts to 27 Nm (20 lb ft).
3. Ignition switch, dimmer switch, turn signal switch, and washer/wiper switch connectors to steering column. See figure 3B4-7. The blue ignition switch connector must be installed before the black ignition switch connector.
4. Shift indicator cable to column. Refer to shift indicator adjustment for adjustment procedure.
5. Selector (range) lever cable to steering column.
6. Lower and center instrument panel trim plates.
7. Left hand sound insulator panel.
