Vacuum Pump HVAC: Description and Operation
Vacuum Tank:
An electric vacuum pump is used to maintain the proper vacuum level for the cruise control valve and servo. A vacuum reservoir tank is used to help maintain adequate vacuum level in the system to operate other vacuum control valves (i.e. E.G.R. valve etc.)
Electric Vacuum Pump Mounting:
The vacuum pump is mounted under the battery tray on the left hand side of the car. The vacuum pump only operates when the cruise control system is engaged and is only serviced as an assembly. A charcoal filter is located in the outlet hose line to protect the internal vacuum pump components from vapors. The vacuum pump is equipped with locking type connectors for attaching vehicle wiring and care should be used when disconnecting wiring from vacuum pump.
