INSTALLING J 35604 PRESSURE GAGE AND ADAPTER
Some ABS diagnostic procedures require that the J 35604 pressure gage be installed on the hydraulic unit in order to measure accumulator pressure during various phases of operation. The J 35604 pressure gage may be installed on the hydraulic unit after installation of pressure gage adapter J 35604-25 as described in the following procedure:
1. Depressurize hydraulic accumulator by pumping the brake pedal a minimum of 25 times.
WARNING: Failure to depressurize hydraulic accumulator prior to performing this operation may result in personal injury and/or damage to painted surfaces.
2. Remove hydraulic unit bleed screw.
3. Install J 35604-25 pressure gage adapter in bleed screw hole as shown. Tighten adapter to 10 Nm (7.5 lbs ft). DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN ADAPTER.
4. Install J 35604 pressure gage on J 35604-25 adapter as shown. Be sure that one O-ring is positioned between the gage fitting and adapter. Tighten pressure gage fitting to 15 Nm (11 lbs ft).
5. Proceed with tests as outlined in the diagnostic procedure.
When removing pressure gage and adapter, depressurize the hydraulic accumulator. Tighten bleed screw to 12 Nm (9 lbs ft). It is not necessary to bleed the hydraulic unit after installation and removal of the pressure gage and adapter unless additional hydraulic pipes, hoses or fittings were loosened or removed.
