Condition, Dealer Action, Vehicles Involved, Owner Notification

CONDITION

General Motors has determined that the carburetor throttle body assembly on certain 1986 Cadillac Fleetwood Broughams may have been damaged during vehicle assembly. As a result, the primary throttle valves may not provide the proper air/fuel mixture causing poor engine idle quality. In addition, the transmission throttle valve (T.V.) cable may have been improperly adjusted.


DEALER ACTION

To correct this condition, the carburetor throttle body assembly is to be replaced and the T.V. cable adjusted. Repairs are to be completed per the Vehicles Involved and Service Procedure sections of this bulletin.


VEHICLES INVOLVED

All 1986 Cadillac Fleetwood Broughams within the following two VIN ranges require this campaign (Cadillac records indicate a total of 309 vehicles are affected):

G9727649 through G9727843 and
G9728036 through G9728149


OWNER NOTIFICATION

OWNERS OF VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THIS CAMPAIGN WILL BE NOTIFIED BY LETTER FROM CADILLAC MOTOR CAR DIVISION. A COPY OF THE OWNER LETTER IS ATTACHED.
