Cabin Air Filter / Purifier: Service and Repair





Passenger Compartment Air Filter Replacement






1. Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Retainers (Qty: 4).
2. Instrument Panel Insulator Assembly.
3. Disconnect the electrical connections.
4. When replacing the instrument panel insulator panel, transfer all necessary components.
5. When reinstalling the instrument panel right insulator, ensure the tab located on the right edge of the insulator is engaged behind the right body hinge pillar trim panel.






6. Instrument Panel Side Trim Panel Assembly (Right or Left).
7. Use a flat bladed plastic trim tool in order to release the retainer clips securing the instrument panel side trim panel to the instrument panel assembly.






8. Use a flat bladed plastic trim tool and release the retainer clips securing the front forward edge of the left front floor console extension enough to access the instrument panel lower trim panel fastener. Do NOT remove the complete front floor console extension panel, only release the retainer clips securing the forward edge.
9. Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Fasteners (Qty: 2).

Caution: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners, or fastener joint surfaces, unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems. When using fasteners that are threaded directly into plastic, use extreme care not to strip the mating plastic part(s). Use hand tools only, and do not use any kind of impact or power tools. Fastener should be hand tightened, fully seated, and not stripped.

Tighten
2.5 Nm (22 lb in)

10. Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Assembly.
11. Grasp the instrument panel lower trim panel and pull rearward disengaging the retainer clips securing the panel to the instrument panel assembly.






12. Instrument Panel Compartment Air Outlet.
13. Use a flat bladed plastic trim tool in order to release the outlet assembly from the instrument compartment.
14. Instrument Panel Compartment Fasteners (Qty: 9).

Caution: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners, or fastener joint surfaces, unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems. Tighten

15. Instrument Panel Compartment Assembly.
16. Disconnect the electrical connections.
17. When replacing the instrument panel compartment assembly, transfer all necessary components.






18. Passenger Compartment Air Filter Service Lid Retainer (Qty: 3).
19. Release the retainer and open the service lid.
20. Passenger Compartment Air Filter Lid.
21. Passenger Compartment Air Filter.
