Automatic Transmission Fluid Cooler Replacement
Tools Required
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
Removal Procedure
1. Important: It is not necessary to discharge the refrigerant from the A/C system during auxiliary transmission oil cooler (TOC) replacement.
Remove the A/C condenser mounting bolts and reposition the condenser.
Reposition the condenser to access the auxiliary transmission oil cooler. Refer to Condenser Replacement (Heavy Duty Cooling) Condenser Replacement (Standard Cooling).
2. Disconnect the transmission oil cooler (TOC) lines from the TOC.
3. Disconnect the TOC line from the TOC retainer clip (1).
4. Remove the TOC mounting bolts.
5. Remove the TOC.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the TOC.
2. Notice: Install the TOC mounting bolts.
Tighten the bolts to 5 Nm (44 inch lbs.).
3. Connect the TOC lines to the TOC.
Tighten the fittings to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
Connect the TOC line to the TOC retainer clip (1).
4. Reposition and reinstall the condenser. Refer to Condenser Replacement (Heavy Duty Cooling) Condenser Replacement (Standard Cooling).
