Filler Tube Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Drain the fuel tank to a level below the fuel fill hose, if necessary. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining (E-85) (Fuel Tank Draining (E-85))Fuel Tank Draining (Non E-85) (Fuel Tank Draining (Non E-85)).
2. Remove the left rear wheel house liner. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement ([1][2]Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement).
3. Using compressed air, blow any dirt and/or debris from around the fuel fill pipe and evaporative emission (EVAP) line connections.
4. Loosen the fuel fill hose clamp (1) at the fill pipe.




5. Disconnect the fuel fill hose (2) from the fuel fill pipe.
6. Disconnect the fuel tank EVAP recirculation line quick connect fitting (1) from the fill pipe line. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).




7. Remove the fuel fill pipe ground strap bolt.




8. Disconnect the fill pipe vent line (2) quick connect fitting from the EVAP canister. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
9. Lower the vehicle.




10. Remove the fuel tank fill pocket opening grommet.
11. Remove the fuel tank fill pipe out through the opening in the pocket.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the fuel tank fill pipe in through the opening in the pocket.
2. Install the fuel tank fill pocket opening grommet. Ensure all 4 retaining tabs are seated.
3. Raise the vehicle.




4. Connect the fill pipe vent line (2) quick connect fitting to the EVAP canister. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).




5. Position the ground strap to the bracket.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution)

6. Install the fuel fill pipe ground strap bolt and tighten to 9 Nm(80 lb in)





Note: Clean the fill pipe or any dirt or debris. Ensure the fill pipe is installed to the original depth to the fill hose. The fill pipe bead must be inserted into the hose past the clamp position.

7. Connect the fuel tank EVAP recirculation line quick connect fitting (1) to the fill pipe line. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
8. Connect the fuel fill hose (2) to the fuel fill pipe.




9. Tighten the fuel fill hose clamp (1) at the fill pipe to 4 Nm(35 lb in)
10. Install the left rear wheel house liner. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement ([1][2]Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement).
11. Inspect the fuel tank fill pocket opening grommet. Ensure the grommet is seated flush to the body.
12. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection).
13. Perform the following procedure in order to inspect for leaks:

1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
4. Inspect for fuel leaks.

14. Install the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (Intake Manifold Cover Replacement).
