Evaporative Emissions Hose: Service and Repair




Evaporative Emission Line Replacement - Engine to Chassis

Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Fuel and Evaporative Emission Pipe Warning (Service Precautions).





1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief (With CH 48027) (Fuel Pressure Relief (With CH 48027))Fuel Pressure Relief (Without CH 48027) (Fuel Pressure Relief (Without CH 48027)).
2. Clean the fuel and evaporative emission (EVAP) pipe connections and areas surrounding the connections prior to disconnecting the connections in order to avoid possible contamination of the fuel and/or EVAP system.
3. Disconnect the fuel feed pipe (1) quick connect fitting at the fuel rail. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
4. Disconnect the EVAP line (2) quick connect fitting at the EVAP canister purge valve. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Description and Operation).




6. Remove the fuel/EVAP pipe retainers (1, 3).
7. Loosen the fuel/EVAP retainer (2) bolt.




8. Disconnect the fuel feed rear pipe quick connect fitting (1) from the chassis fuel line. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).




9. Disconnect the chassis EVAP line quick connect fitting (1) from the EVAP canister. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).




10. Drill out the rivets (5) securing the retainer (2) to the underbody.
11. Disconnect the retainers (3, 4 and 1) from the underbody.
12. Remove the fuel/EVAP lines from the vehicle and place on a suitable work surface.
13. Remove the EVAP line from the retainers.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the EVAP line to the retainers.
2. Position the fuel/EVAP lines to the vehicle underbody.
3. Connect the retainers (3, 4 and 1) to the underbody.
4. Install NEW rivets (5) securing the retainer (2) to the underbody




5. Connect the chassis EVAP line quick connect fitting (1) to the EVAP canister. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).




6. Connect the fuel feed rear pipe quick connect fitting (1) to the chassis fuel line. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).




7. Position the retainer to the front of dash.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution)

8. Tighten the fuel/EVAP pipe retainer (2) bolt to 6 Nm(53 lb in).
9. Install the fuel/EVAP pipe retainers (1, 3).
10. Lower the vehicle.




11. Connect the EVAP line (2) quick connect fitting at the EVAP canister purge valve. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
12. Connect the fuel feed pipe (1) quick connect fitting at the fuel rail. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
13. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection).
14. Perform the following procedure in order to inspect for leaks:

1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
4. Inspect for fuel leaks.

15. Install the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (Intake Manifold Cover Replacement).
