Fuel Filler Hose: Service and Repair

FILLER TUBE REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: This procedure is for removal of the fuel filler tube ONLY. In order to remove the fuel filler hose connecting the fuel filler tube to the fuel tank. Removal of the fuel tank is necessary. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement.




1. Drain the fuel tank below the level of the fuel filler hose. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining Procedure.
2. Open the fuel filler door and remove fuel filler cap (1).
3. Remove the sealing ring (2) from around the fuel filler tube (3).
4. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
5. Remove the wheel house opening fuel filler tube cover (5).
6. Remove the bolt (7) from the fuel filler tube ground wire (6).
7. Loosen the fuel filler tube hose clamp (4).




8. Remove the fuel filler tube (1) from the fuel filler hose (2).
9. In order to remove the fuel filler hose (2) removal of the fuel tank is necessary. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the fuel tank if previously removed.
2. Install the fuel filler tube (1) into the fuel filler hose (2).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




3. Position the fuel filler tube (3) for best fit and alignment then secure the fuel filler tube hose clamp (4).

Tighten
Tighten the clamp to 3.5 N.m (31 lb in).

4. Install the bolt (7) to the fuel filler tube ground wire (6).

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

5. Install the wheel house opening fuel filler tube cover (5).
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Install the sealing ring (2) around the fuel filler tube (3).
8. Add fuel to the fuel tank.
9. Inspect for fuel leaks.
10. Install the fuel filler cap (1) and close the fuel filler door.
