BATTERY POSITIVE CABLE REPLACEMENT (TOP POST)

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT:
- Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing.
- Always route the replacement cable the same way as the original cable.

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable from the negative battery post.




2. Lift the positive battery post protective cover.
3. Disconnect the battery positive cable from the positive battery post.




4. Remove the battery positive cable protector cover from the underhood fuse block.




5. Disconnect the battery positive cable from the positive battery terminal on the underhood fuse block.
6. Raise and support the vehicle.




7. Disconnect the battery positive cable from the starter.




8. Disconnect the electrical harness conduit wire ties from the engine frame.
9. Remove the battery positive cable from the electrical harness conduit.
10. Remove the battery positive cable from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the battery positive cable into the electrical harness conduit.
2. Connect the electrical harness conduit wire ties to the engine frame.




3. Install the nut securing the battery positive cable to the starter.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten
Tighten the battery positive cable to starter nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

4. Lower the vehicle.




5. Install the nut securing the battery positive cable to the battery positive terminal on the underhood fuse block.

Tighten
Tighten the battery positive cable to underhood fuse block nut to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).




6. Install the battery positive cable protector cover to the underhood fuse block.




7. Install the battery positive cable to the battery positive post.

Tighten
Tighten the battery cable nut to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

8. Cover the positive battery post with the protective cover.
9. Connect the battery negative cable to the negative battery post.
