Ignition Lock Cylinder

Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disable the SIR system.

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
3. Position the steering wheel half way between the upper and lower tilt stops.





4. Remove the steering wheel.
5. Remove the tilt lever.
6. Remove the retaining screws from the lower steering column trim cover.
7. Remove the trim cover.





8. Remove the retaining screws (3) from the upper steering column trim cover.





9. Lift the trim cover to gain access to the lock cylinder access hole.
10. Using a bent tip awl, insert the tip into the ignition lock cylinder access hole.





11. Turn the ignition lock cylinder to the START position.
12. Using the bent tip awl, push down on the ignition lock cylinder retaining pin.
13. Release the ignition lock cylinder to the RUN position.





14. Remove the ignition lock cylinder from the ignition lock cylinder case assembly by pulling the ignition lock cylinder away from the steering column.

Installation Procedure
1. Insert the ignition lock cylinder through the upper steering column trim cover.





2. Install the ignition lock cylinder to the ignition lock cylinder case assembly by performing the following procedures:
2.1. Align the tabs on the ignition lock cylinder to the slots on the ignition lock cylinder case assembly.
2.2. Push the ignition lock cylinder into the ignition lock cylinder case assembly until the locking tab locks against the locking tab slot.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





3. Install the retaining screws (3) to the upper steering column trim cover.
Tighten the screws to 1.5 Nm (13 inch lbs.).





4. Install the lower steering column trim cover to the closeout shroud.
5. Install the retaining screws to the lower steering column trim cover.
Tighten the screws to 3.5 Nm (31 inch lbs.).
6. Install the tilt lever.
7. Install the steering wheel.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
9. Enable the SIR system.
