BATTERY POSITIVE CABLE REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT:
^ Always use replacement cables that are of the same type diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing.
^ Always route the replacement cable the same way as the original cable.




1. Open the battery positive cable transition block cable protector cover.
2. Disconnect the battery negative cable from the negative battery cable transition block.




3. Disconnect the battery positive cable from the positive battery cable transition block.
4. Disconnect the battery positive cable from the positive battery terminal on the underhood fuse block.
5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.




6. Disconnect the battery positive cable from the starter.




7. Disconnect the electrical harness conduit wire ties from the engine frame.
8. Remove the battery positive cable from the electrical harness conduit.
9. Remove the battery positive cable from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the battery positive cable into the electrical harness conduit.
2. Connect the electrical harness conduit wire ties to the engine frame.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




3. Install the nut securing the battery positive cable to the starter.

Tighten
Tighten the battery positive cable to starter nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

4. Lower the vehicle.




5. Install the nut securing the battery positive cable to the battery positive terminal on the underhood fuse block.

Tighten
Tighten the battery positive cable to underhood fuse block nut to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

6. Install the nut securing the battery positive cable to the battery positive transition block.

Tighten
Tighten the battery cable nut to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).




7. Connect the battery negative cable to the negative battery cable transition block.
8. Close the battery positive cable transition block cable protector cover.
