Radiator Replacement^ Tools Required
- J 41623-A Cooler Quick Connect Tool
Removal Procedure
1. Drain the engine coolant.
2. Remove the upper two bolts from the hood latch support.
3. Remove the upper radiator seal.
4. Disconnect the inlet and outlet radiator hoses from the radiator and position out of the way.
5. Slide the plastic cap off the transaxle oil cooler pipe quick connect fittings.
6. Disconnect the upper (1) and lower (2) transaxle oil cooler pipes from the radiator using the J 41623-A.
7. Remove the overflow hose from the radiator.
8. Remove the cooling fans.
9. Disconnect the A/C condenser from the radiator.
10. Remove the upper radiator mounting brackets.
11. Remove the radiator from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the radiator to the vehicle. Place the bottom of the radiator in the lower mounts.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the upper radiator mounting brackets and bolts.
^ Tighten the radiator mounting bracket bolts 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
Important: The bolt retaining the condenser to the radiator end tank is a 15 mm (0.6 inch) length and should be the ONLY bolt used upon reinstallation. The use of a longer bolt will damage the radiator end tank.
3. Connect the A/C condenser to the radiator.
^ Tighten the A/C condenser mounting bracket bolts 13 Nm (10 ft. lbs.).
4. Push the upper and lower Transaxle oil cooler pipes into the radiator quick connect fittings, until a "click" is heard.
5. Tug gently on the cooler pipes to ensure proper retention.
6. Slide the plastic caps (1) over the quick connect joints.
7. Install the cooling fans.
8. Install the overflow hose from the radiator.
9. Install the inlet and outlet radiator hoses to the radiator.
10. Install the upper radiator seal.
11. Install the upper two bolts from the hood latch support.
^ Tighten the hood latch support bolts to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).
12. Fill the cooling system.
