Cooling Fan Replacement - Electric

Removal Procedure

Caution: An electric fan under the hood can start up even when the engine is not running and can injure you. Keep hands, clothing and tools away from any underhood electric fan.

Caution: To help avoid personal injury or damage to the vehicle, a bent, cracked, or damaged fan blade or housing should always be replaced.





1. Drain the cooling system.
2. Remove the front headlamps.
3. Remove the hood latch support.
4. Remove the upper radiator seal.





5. Remove the upper radiator brackets.
6. Disconnect the inlet radiator hose from the radiator.
7. Disconnect the wiring harness electrical connector from the motor and the fan bracket.





8. Remove the transaxle oil cooler pipe bracket bolt from the lower tie bar.





9. Remove the transaxle oil cooler pipe bracket bolt from the fan shroud.





10. Disconnect the fan mounting bolts.
11. Disconnect the coolant overflow hose from the fan assembly.
12. Lift the radiator assembly off the lower mounts and move the assembly towards the front of the vehicle on left side.
13. Remove the fans by releasing from the lower mounting tabs and raise the left side of the fans up.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the fan assembly and insert into the lower radiator holding tabs.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the electric cooling fan mounting bolts
- Tighten the electric cooling fan mounting bolts to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).
3. Reposition the radiator and fan assembly onto the lower mounts.
4. Install the coolant overflow hose into the fan shroud clips.





5. Align the transaxle oil cooler pipes with the routing features (1, 2) on the fan shroud.





6. Install the transaxle oil cooler pipe bracket bolt to the fan shroud.
- Tighten the transaxle oil cooler pipe bracket to fan shroud bolt to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).





7. Install the transaxle oil cooler pipe bracket bolt to the lower tie bar.
- Tighten the transaxle oil cooler pipe bracket to lower tie bar bolt to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).





8. Connect the wiring harness electrical connectors to the fan motors,
9. Install the inlet radiator hose to the radiator.
10. Install the upper radiator brackets and bolts.
- Tighten the radiator mounting bracket bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).





11. Install the upper radiator seal.
12. Install the hood latch support.
13. Install the front headlamps.
14. Fill the cooling system.
