Rear Knuckle: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
3. Scribe the strut to the knuckle.
4. Disconnect the rear wheel spindle rods from the knuckle.
5. Remove the brake caliper and bracket.
6. Remove the rotor.
7. Disconnect the ABS electrical connector.
8. Remove the rear wheel hub.
9. Disconnect the trailing arm (1) from the knuckle.
10. Remove the rear suspension strut to knuckle bolts.
11. Remove the rear suspension knuckle.


INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the rear suspension knuckle.
2. Hand start the rear suspension strut to knuckle bolts. Do not tighten the nuts at this time.
3. Connect the rear wheel spindle rods to the knuckle.
4. Connect the rear suspension trailing arm (1) to the knuckle.
5. Install the rear wheel hub.
6. Connect the ABS electrical connector.
7. Install the brake caliper and the rotor.
- Tighten the strut to knuckle bolts to 112 Nm (82 ft. lbs.).

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

8. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
9. Lower the vehicle.
