Fuel Filler Hose: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURENOTE: Cap the fittings and plug the holes when servicing the fuel system in order to prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering the open pipes and passages.
IMPORTANT: Always maintain cleanliness when servicing fuel system components.
1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure.
2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting in Service Precautions.
3. Loosen the fuel filler hose clamp at the fuel tank.
4. Loosen the fuel filler hose clamp at the fuel filter pipe.
5. Remove the fuel filler hose.
6. Disconnect the vapor recirculation line at the fuel filler pipe.
7. Remove the fuel filler pipe attaching screw (1) from the under body.
8. Remove the fuel filler pipe attaching screws (3) from the fuel filler pipe access panel.
9. Remove the fuel filler pipe.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Reinstall the fuel filler pipe.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Reinstall the fuel filler pipe attaching screws (3) to the fuel filler pipe access panel.
Tighten
The fuel filler pipe attaching screws to 10 N.m (8 lb ft).
3. Reinstall the fuel filler pipe attaching screw (1) to the under body.
Tighten
The fuel filler pipe attaching screw to 10 N.m (8 lb ft).
4. Connect the vapor recirculation line at the fuel filler pipe.
5. Reinstall the fuel filler hose.
6. Tighten the fuel filler hose clamp at the fuel tank.
7. Tighten the fuel filler hose clamp at the fuel filler pipe.
8. Inspect and make sure filler hose (4) is fully seated on fuel tank port, and fuel filler pipe (2).
9. Make sure clamp (1) is properly located on tank port between the bead (5) and tank (3).
Tighten
Tighten the fuel tank filler hose clamps to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Tighten the fuel fill cap.
12. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
13. Inspect for leaks.
13.1. Turn the ignition switch On for 2 seconds.
13.2. Turn the ignition switch OFF for 10 seconds.
13.3. Turn the ignition switch ON.
13.4. Check for fuel leaks.
14. Reinstall the fuel injection sight shield.
