Crankshaft Oil Deflector Replacement
Removal Procedure1. Remove the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement.
Important: Be careful not to damage the crankshaft.
2. Pry out the crankshaft front oil seal with a suitable, flat-bladed tool. Use care to avoid damaging the crankshaft front oil seal bore or the crankshaft front oil seal contact surfaces.
3. Inspect the crankshaft balancer and engine front cover for scratches.
Installation Procedure

- J 35354-A Seal Installer
1. Lubricate the crankshaft front oil seal with lubricant GM P/N 10522497 or equivalent.
2. Install the crankshaft front oil seal in the engine front cover using the J 35354-A.
3. Tighten the bolt until the crankshaft front oil seal is seated in the engine front cover.
4. Remove the J 35354-A.
5. Coat the outside seal surface of the crankshaft balancer with lubricant GM P/N 1050169 or equivalent.
6. Install the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement.
7. Inspect for leaks.
