Park Brake Cable Replacement (Front)

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

^ Tools Required
- J 37043 Parking Brake Cable Release Tool





1. Remove the left side instrument panel insulator.
2. Remove the left side carpet retainers.
3. Remove the lower center pillar trim panel on the left side.
4. Fold back the carpeting in order to gain access to the parking brake cable.
5. Remove the parking brake cable (1) from the hold down clips (2).
6. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
7. Remove the parking brake cable at the equalizer.
8. Lower the vehicle.





9. Remove the cable button end from the parking brake lever clevis.





10. Remove the cable from the parking brake lever using the J 37043.
11. Remove the front cable from the vehicle.


INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the front cable into the vehicle.
2. Connect the cable to the parking brake lever.
3. Install the cable button in the lever clevis.
4. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.





5. Tighten the nut on the equalizer (2) in order to remove the slack in the cable.
6. Lower the vehicle.





7. Install the parking brake cable (1) into the hold down clips (2).
8. Position the carpeting properly.
9. Install the lower center pillar trim panel on the left side.
10. Install the left side carpet retainers.
11. Install the left side instrument panel insulator.
12. Adjust the parking brake.
