Power Steering Line/Hose: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the lower radiator air deflector from vehicle.
3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Wheels, Tires and Alignment.
4. Drain the power steering fluid. Refer to Draining the Power Steering System.
5. Remove the retaining screws from the power steering lines retainer brackets on front top of engine.
6. Remove the retaining screws (2) from the power steering lines retainer brackets on the right frame rail.
7. Remove the retaining screws from the power steering lines at the top of the rear frame rail.





8. Disconnect the power steering line at the power steering pump.
9. Disconnect the power steering lines from the steering gear.
10. Remove the power steering lines from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Position the hoses in place.





2. Install the power steering lines to the pump.
- Tighten the power steering gear inlet hose to the pump to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).





3. Install the power steering lines (1) at the steering gear.
- Tighten the power steering lines at the gear to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





4. Install the retainers and the bolts.
- Tighten the retainer bolts to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).

5. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tire and Wheel.
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding Power Steering System.
