Accumulator Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURETOOLS REQUIRED
^ J 38042 Dual O-Ring Joint Separator
^ J 39500 Air Conditioning Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling and Recharging (ACR4) System
1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Disconnect the evaporator tube from the retainer.
4. Remove the evaporator tube retainer.
5. Remove the A/C compressor hose from the accumulator.
6. Remove the accumulator tube from the accumulator.
7. Remove the accumulator bracket retaining bolt.
8. Remove the accumulator from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Electronic Halogen Leak Detector
1. Install the accumulator into the bracket.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
2. Install the accumulator bracket retaining bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
3. Install the accumulator tube to accumulator.
4. Install the A/C compressor hose to the accumulator.
Tighten
Tighten the accumulator connections to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).
5. Install the evaporator tube retainer.
6. Install the evaporator tube to the retainer.
7. Connect the negative battery cable.
8. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
9. Test the A/C system for leaks using the J 39400-A. Refer to Leak Testing.
