Remove or Disconnect
Tool Required:
J 39232 Wiper Transmission Separator
1. Wiper arm assemblies.
2. Hose (11) from washer hose (23).
3. Air inlet panel (24) from vehicle.
A. Remove five retainers (25) from air inlet panel (24).
B. Push washer hose (23) into firewall.
C. Remove air inlet panel (24) from vehicle.
4. Transmission drive link socket (P) from wiper motor crank arm (26) using J 39232.
5. Six screws (29) from vehicle and transmission assembly (16).
6. Transmission assembly (16) from vehicle by guiding it out plenum chamber access hole (R).
Install or Connect

J 39529 Wiper Transmission Installer
NOTICE: Refer to Vehicle Damage Warnings / Fastener Requirements. Service Precautions
1. Transmission assembly (16) in vehicle.
A. Place transmission assembly (16) in plenum chamber by guiding it through plenum chamber access hole (R).
B. Pull the two transmission drive shafts (D) up through two holes in top of plenum chamber.
C. Install transmission assembly (16) with three screws (29) at each transmission drive shaft (D).
Tighten
^ Six screws to 8 N.m (71 lb. in.).
2. Transmission drive link socket (P) to wiper motor crank arm (26) using J 39529. Be sure socket is fully seated on crank arm.
3. Air inlet panel (24) on vehicle.
A. Place air inlet panel (24) on vehicle in installation position.
B. Pull washer hose (23) through firewall. Ensure that washer hose fitting (Q) is seated in hole in firewall.
C. Install five retainers (25) starting with the middle one and working outward.
4. Hose (11) to washer hose (23).
5. Wiper arm assemblies to transmission drive shafts.
Inspect
^ Wipe pattern. Dimension G should be 15 - 40 mm (5/8 - 1-5/8 in.) from top of driver's side wiper blade assembly on outerwipe to edge of molding.
^ Park position. Both wiper arms must be against park ramps.
^ Correct park position and outerwipe dimension are determined with the wipers operating at low speed on wet glass.
