Compressor Fitting HVAC: Service and Repair
Suction/Discharge Compressor Hose Assembly:
Tool Required:
J 38042 Dual 0-Ring Joint Separator
J 39400 ACR 4 Machine
Important
^ Brazed fittings are on the condenser and evaporator. These fittings cannot be turned because the fitting is brazed to the pipe. It is important that the service technician recognize which fitting is to be turned and use backup wrenches. The brazed fitting not to be turned is always the same color as the pipe it is brazed to (unpainted or unplatted aluminum).
Remove or Disconnect
^ Recover refrigerant from A/C system.
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Upper A/C line clip.
3. A/C line connection from accumulator outlet using J 38042.
4. A/C line connection from condenser inlet using J 38042.
5. Electrical connector from A/C pressure switch.
6. Bolt attaching suction/discharge refrigerant line assembly to rear of A/C compressor.
7. Suction/discharge refrigerant line assembly from vehicle.
Install or Connect
1. Suction/discharge refrigerant line assembly into vehicle.
2. Bolt attaching suction/discharge refrigerant line assembly to rear of A/C compressor.
Tighten
^ Bolt to 26 N.m (19 lb. ft.).
3. Electrical connector to A/C pressure switch.
4. A/C line connection to condenser inlet.
Tighten
^ Condenser outlet connection to 24 N.m (18 lb. ft).
5. A/C line connection to accumulator outlet.
Tighten
^ Accumulator outlet connection to 24 N.m (18 lb. ft.).
6. Upper A/C line clip.
7. Negative battery cable.
^ Evacuate, charge and leak test A/C system.
