Compressing Piston Into Bore:

Suspending Caliper From Strut:

Caliper Anchor Bracket:

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Two-thirds of brake fluid from master cylinder.
2. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
3. Mark relationship of wheel to axle flange.
4. Wheel and tire.
5. If caliper is to be removed for unit repair, remove bolt attaching inlet fitting, and plug opening in caliper and/or pipe to prevent fluid loss and contamination. If only pads are being replaced, do not disconnect inlet fitting.
6. Push piston into caliper bore to provide clearance between pads and rotor.

a. Install a large C-clamp over top of caliper housing and against back of outboard pad.
b. Slowly tighten C-clamp until piston is pushed into caliper bore far enough to slide caliper off rotor.
7. Caliper pin bolts.
8. Caliper. Inspect Caliper bolt suspension boots for cuts, tears, or deterioration. If damaged, replace pin boots. Piston boot for deterioration. If damaged, overhaul caliper. Caliper pin bolt for damage or corrosion. Replace if damaged or corroded. Do Not attempt to clean away corrosion. Corrosion is typically caused by damaged pin boots.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Caliper.
2. Caliper pin bolts. Make sure caliper bolt boot is properly positioned before installing bolt, or boot damage may occur. Pin bolts should slide through bushings with only hand pressure applied. If greater force is required, or mechanical assistance is needed, do the following:
a. Remove bolts.
b. Inspect bushings. If bushings show signs of scoring, replace bushings.
c. Clean bores with clean denatured alcohol.
d. Install new bushings and lubricate.
3. Inlet fitting, if removed. Tighten Pin bolts to 85 Nm (63 ft. lbs.). Inlet fitting to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.).
4. Wheel and tire, aligning previous mark. Remove wheel nuts securing rotor to hub. Lower vehicle. Torque wheel nuts per specification.
5. Fill master cylinder to proper level with clean brake fluid. Bleed caliper if inlet fitting was removed. Recheck fluid level.
