System Initialization

The Electronic Brake (and Traction) Control Module (EBCM/EBTCM) performs a series of self tests which check all systems, electronic and hydraulic, for any problems. This test takes place when the ignition is turned to RUN and when 20 km/h (12 mph) is first reached at each ignition cycle. When a problem exists, the EBCM/EBTCM sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) and/or illuminates an indicator lamp.
