Water Pump: Service and Repair






REMOVAL
1. Drain coolant, partially.
2. Drive belt guard, bolts and nuts. See Engine.
3. Loosen water pump pulley bolts.
4. Drive belt. See Engine.
5. Coolant pump pulley bolts and pulley.
6. Coolant pump attaching bolts.
7. Coolant pump and gasket. Clean coolant pump mating surfaces.

INSTALLATION
1. Gasket and water pump.
2. Coolant pump mounting bolts. Tighten bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
3. Coolant pump pulley and LOOSELY install mounting bolts.
4. Drive belt. See Engine.
5. Torque water pump pulley, bolts to specifications. Tighten bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
6. Drive belt guard, bolts and nuts. See Engine.
7. Refill coolant. Inspect for leaks.

NOTE: To properly fill a system that has been completely drained requires the use of the air bleed vents.
