Steering Knuckle

^ Tools Required:
- J 41820 Ball Joint/Stud Separator
- J 24319-B Universal Steering Linkage Puller
- Or Equivalent

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
2. Tire and Wheel.
3. Front wheel drive shaft bearing.
4. Front lower control arm ball stud to knuckle cotter pin and nut.
5. Separate front lower control arm stud kit from front steering knuckle.
6. Outer tie rod end from steering knuckle, using J 24319-B.
7. Strut to knuckle bolts/screws.
8. Knuckle from vehicle.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

NOTICE: Always use the correct fastener in the proper location. When you replace a fastener, use ONLY the exact part number for that application. The manufacturer will call out those fasteners that require a replacement after removal. The manufacturer will also call out the fasteners that require thread lockers or thread sealant. UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, do not use supplemental coatings (paints, greases, or other corrosion inhibitors) on threaded fasteners or fastener joint interfaces. Generally, such coatings adversely affect the fastener torque and the joint clamping force, and may damage the fastener. When you install fasteners, use the correct tightening sequence and specifications. Following these instructions can help you avoid damage to parts and systems.

1. Knuckle to vehicle.
2. Strut to knuckle bolts/screws.
^ Tighten strut to knuckle bolts/screws to 123 Nm (90 ft. lbs.).
3. Outer tie rod to steering knuckle.
4. Front lower control arm ball stud to knuckle and front lower control arm ball stud nut.
^ Tighten front lower control arm ball stud to knuckle nut to 55 Nm (40 ft. lbs.).
^ Align slots to front lower control arm ball stud nut with cotter pin hole by tightening nut. DO NOT loosen nut to align holes for cotter pin.
5. Front lower control arm ball stud cotter pin.
6. Front wheel drive shaft bearing.
7. Tire and wheel.
8. Lower vehicle.
