Evaporator Case: Service and Repair
Water Core Filter Installation To Evaporator Core:
Evaporator Core Upper Seal:
Evaporator Core Side Seal:
Evaporator Core Lower Seals:
Blower case.
Remove or Disconnect
1. Body hinge pillar tie bar-cross car beam. Refer to Instrument Panel, Gages And Warning Indicators.
2. Engine acoustic cover (3800 only). Refer to Engine Mechanical.
3. Drain cooling system. Refer to Cooling Systems.
4 Recover refrigerant. Refer to "Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling, Adding Oil, Evacuating and Charging Procedures.
5. A/C lines at evaporator block fitting.
6 Heater hoses at heater core.
7 Blower case to dash nuts.
Blower Case:
8. Blower case bracket bolts.
9. Vacuum hoses.
10 Electrical connectors.
Blower Case:
11. Blower case.
Blower Case Outer Seals:
Blower Case Seal Installation Between The Upper And Lower Cases:
12. All outer blower case seals.

Install or Connect
NOTICE: Always use the correct fastener in the proper location. When you replace a fastener, use ONLY the exact part number for that application. General Motors will call out those fasteners that require thread lockers or thread sealant. UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, do not use supplemental coatings (paints, greases, or other corrosion inhibitors) on threaded fasteners or fastener joint interface. Generally, such coatings adversely affect the fastener torque and the joint clamping force, and may damage the fastener. When you install fasteners, use the correct tighting sequence and specification. Following these instructions can help you void damage in parts and system.
Blower Case Outer Seals:
Blower Case Seal Installation Between The Upper And Lower Cases:
1. All outer blower case seals.
Blower Case:
2. Blower case.
3. Electrical connectors.
4. Vacuum hoses.
Blower Case:
5. Blower case bracket bolts.
Tighten
- Bolts to 20 N.m (14 lb. ft.).
6. Blower case to dash nuts.
Tighten
- Nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb. in.).
7. Heater hoses at heater core.
8. A/C lines at evaporator block fitting.
Tighten
- Bolt to 16 N.m (12 lb.ft.).
9. Evacuate, recharge, and leak test system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling, Adding Oil, Evacuating and Charging Procedures.
10. Fill coolant system and check for leaks. Refer to Cooling Systems.
11. Engine acoustic cover (3800 only). Refer to Engine Mechanical.
