Thermostat: Service and Repair

TOOL REQUIRED
^ J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

REMOVAL
1. Air cleaner and duct assembly.
2. Engine coolant, partially.
3. Fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement Service and Repair. See Powertrain Management.
4. Radiator hose from thermostat housing.





5. Bolts from thermostat housing.
6. Thermostat housing and gasket.
7. Thermostat. Clean gasket mating surfaces.

INSTALLATION
1. Thermostat.
2. Thermostat housing to intake manifold with new gasket.
3. Bolts to thermostat housing with RTV Sealer GM P/N 1052366 or equivalent. Tighten bolts to 27 Nm (20 lb. ft.).
4. Radiator hose to thermostat.
5. Fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement Service and Repair. See Powertrain Management.
6. Air cleaner and duct assembly.
7. Engine coolant.
