REMOVAL
1. Raise the vehicle. Suitably support the vehicle.
2. Remove the transmission.
3. Remove the eight bolts attaching the flexplate to the crankshaft flange. Discard the bolts.
4. Remove the flexplate.
5. Inspect the flexplate for worn or broken teeth, and cracks. Replace if necessary.
6. Inspect the crankshaft and flexplate mating surfaces for burrs.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the flexplate.
2. Install the flexplate bolts. Tighten the new bolts to 15 Nm (11 lb ft). Use the Torque Angle Meter in order to tighten the bolts an additional 50 degrees.
3. Install the Dial Indicator Set to the engine block.
4. Check the flexplate runout at the three attaching bosses. Ensure that the crankshaft end-play is held in one direction when checking flexplate runout. Flexplate runout should not exceed 0.381 mm (0.015 inches).
5. If flexplate runout is out of specification, tap on the high side with a mallet in order to correct runout.
6. Replace the flexplate if runout cannot be corrected.
7. Install the transmission.
8. Lower the vehicle.
