Important
^ Brazed fittings are on the condenser and evaporator. These fittings cannot be turned because the fitting is brazed to the pipe. It is important that the service technician recognize which fitting is to be turned and use backup wrenches. The brazed fitting not to be turned is always the same color as the pipe it is brazed to (unpainted or unplatted aluminum).
^ Accumulator for R-134a systems have metric fittings identified by a grove cut into fitting flats. Replace only with like Accumulator or thread damage will result.
Remove or Disconnect
^ Recover refrigerant from A/C system.
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Evaporator to accumulator line from accumulator.
3. Suction line from accumulator.
4. Accumulator bracket retaining bolt.
5. Accumulator from vehicle.
Install or Connect
1. Position accumulator into bracket.
2. Accumulator bracket retaining bolt.
Tighten
^ Torque bolt 6 N.m (53 lb. in.).
3. Evaporator to accumulator line fitting.
4. Suction line to accumulator.
5. Torque accumulator inlet and outlet connections to specifications.
Tighten
^ Accumulator connections to 24 N.m (18 lb. ft.).
6. Negative battery cable.
^ Evacuate, charge and leak test the A/C system.
