Table B Traction Off Indicator Inoperative With No DTCs Set

"Traction Off" Indicator Inoperative With No DTC(s) Set:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The "TRACTION OFF" indicator is controlled by the class 2 serial data line from the Electronic Brake Traction Control Module (EBTCM). When the EBTCM sees the Traction Control line go low through the momentary Traction Control switch the EBTCM disables Traction Control and sends a message to the IPC to turn the "TRACTION OFF" indicator "ON". Each time the Ignition switch is cycled "OFF" to "RUN" the Traction Control is enabled until the Traction Control switch is pressed to disable Traction Control.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
It is very important that a thorough inspection of the wiring and connectors be performed. Failure to carefully and fully inspect wiring and connectors may result in misdiagnosis, causing part replacement with reappearance of the malfunction. An intermittent malfunction can be caused by poor connections, broken insulation, or a wire that is broken inside the insulation. Diagnostic Strategies

TABLE TEST DESCRIPTION
The number below refers to step number on the diagnostic table.

[2] Checks if the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) has the ability to control the indicator. The message is sent from the Standard Body Module (SBM). This is done to see if the EBTCM can not send the message or the IPC can not receive the message and act on the message properly.
