Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair
CONDENSER
Condenser Mounting:
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Air cleaner and duct assembly.
2. Negative battery cable.
3. Recover refrigerant.
4. Engine strut brace bolts from upper tie bar and rotate strut(s) and brace(s) rearward.
IMPORTANT: To prevent shearing of rubber bushing(s) loosen bolt(s) on engine strut(s) before swinging strut(s).
5. Condenser refrigerant line fittings.
6. Upper radiator mounting bolts and brackets.
7. Electrical connection from fan(s).
8. Fans.
9. Tilt radiator rearward and hold.
10. Condenser.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Condenser.
2. Radiator.
3. Upper radiator mounting bolts and brackets.
TIGHTEN
^ Bolts to 3 Nm (27 inch lbs.).
4. Fans.
5. Electrical connection to fan(s).
6. Condenser refrigerant line fittings and new O-rings coated with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
TIGHTEN
^ Fitting to 24 Nm (18 lb. ft.).
7. Engine torque strut.
8. Negative battery cable.
TIGHTEN
^ Bolt to 15 Nm (11 lb. ft.).
9. Evacuate, charge and leak test system.
10. Air cleaner and duct assembly.
TIGHTEN
^ Bolts to 5 Nm (44 inch lbs.).
