Evaporator Core: Service and Repair
Evaporator/Heater Module Assembly:
Evaporator Replace:
Fig. 28 Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) Assembly Removal:
Brazed fittings are used on condenser and evaporator. These fittings cannot be turned. It is important that the service technician recognize which fitting is to be turned and use back-up wrenches. The brazed fitting that should not be turned is always the same color as the pipe it is brazed to.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Discharge A/C system, then remove vacuum tank.
3. Remove rear sight shield, then disconnect positive battery booster cable from underhood fuse block. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement Service and Repair.
4. Remove underhood fuse block from relay bracket and position aside.
5. Remove relay bracket from dash panel, then the blower resistor from top of evaporator/heater module casing.
6. Disconnect A/C module to accumulator tube from accumulator.
7. Disconnect A/C compressor and condenser hose from accumulator.
8. Remove clamp from accumulator, then disconnect electrical connector from pressure cycling switch.
9. Disconnect evaporator to condenser tube from evaporator case and condenser.
10. Disengage tube from clips holding evaporator tube to fender, then remove tube from vehicle.
