Intake Manifold Upper



This article has been updated with TSB# 436108a.

NOTE: Do not disassemble upper intake manifold from lower intake manifold unless replacement of one of the components is necessary.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Fuel injector sight shield and air intake duct.


Spark Plug Wiring Harness (Front):






3. Spark plug wires on right side of engine and set aside.
4. Fuel rail.
5. Exhaust heat shield.


Cable Bracket To Throttle Body:






6. Cable bracket to cylinder head mounting bolt.

7. Upper intake manifold bolts and upper manifold.

IMPORTANT: To complete installation, observe the following assembly tips.
^ Lower manifold intake ports should be plugged using clean shop towels before cleaning sealer off mating surfaces.
^ Mating surfaces should not be scraped, sanded or wire brushed in order to remove old sealer. Old sealer should be removed chemically by using any of the various chemical gasket removers available.
^ Apply a 1/16 inch bead of Loctite Instant Gasket Eliminator GM P/N 1052942 or equivalent to lower manifold mating surface. Make sure to circle all bolt holes.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Upper intake manifold







TIGHTEN
^ Manifold bolts to 15 Nm (11 lb. ft.).


Cable Bracket To Throttle Body:






2. Cable bracket to cylinder head mounting mounting bolt.
3. Exhaust heat shield.
4. Fuel rail.


Spark Plug Wiring Harness (Rear):






5. Spark plug wires.
6. Fuel injector sight shield and air intake duct.
7. Negative battery cable.
