Thermostat: Service and Repair

Thermostat:

REMOVAL
1. Partially drain coolant. Refer to Draining and Refilling.
2. Remove radiator hose from thermostat housing.
3. Remove housing attaching bolts.
4. Remove thermostat housing and thermostat.
5. Clean inlet manifold mating surfaces and coolant outlet mating surfaces.

INSTALLATION
1. Install thermostat.
2. Install thermostat housing to inlet manifold.
3. Install attaching bolts with sealer and torque to 25 Nm (18 lb. ft.).
4. Install radiator hose to thermostat housing.
5. Refill coolant. Refer to Draining and Refilling.

NOTE: To properly fill the system requires the use of the air bleed vents.

6. Inspect for leaks.
