Master Cylinder Removal and Installation

Master Cylinder:

Brake Fluid Level Indicator:

Removing Master Cylinder Assembly:

Remove or Disconnect
1. Electrical connector from fluid level sensor (1).
2. Brake pipes from master cylinder (22).

^ Plug open pipes to prevent fluid loss and contamination.

3. Two attaching nuts (23).
4. Master cylinder (21).

Install or Connect
1. Master cylinder (21) with attaching nuts (23).

Tighten
^ Master cylinder attaching nuts to 27 Nm (20 lb. ft.).

2. Brake pipes (22).

Tighten
^ Brake pipes to 20 Nm (15 lb. ft.).

3. Electrical connector to fluid level sensor (1).
4. Fill master cylinder to proper level with clean brake fluid. Proper level is to the MAX fill indicator level in opening on top reservoir.
5. Bleed hydraulic system. Refer to Brake Bleeding / Service and Repair. Service and Repair

Inspect

^ Recheck fluid level.
