Transaxle Temperature Switch With Traction Control

The EBTCM monitors transaxle temperature though the transaxle temperature switch. When the transaxle becomes hot, about 160°C (320°F),the normally closed switch opens, signaling the EBTCM to disable the traction control system and light the TRACTION OFF "Indicator". This allows the brakes and transaxle to cool down. As the transaxle cools to 149°C (300°F) the transaxle temperature switch closes. The EBTCM keeps the TRACTION OFF "Indicator" on and the system disabled for an additional three to five minutes to allow for sufficient cooling.

NOTE: When performing tests on this system, if the trans-axle temperature switch is disconnected, and the ignition is turned to RUN, BULB TEST or START, the traction control system is disabled for three to five minutes.
