Standby Power Supply: Service and Repair
Do not open the DERM case for any reason. Touching the connector pins or soldered components may cause electrostatic discharge damage. Repair of a faulty DERM is by replacement only.1. Deactivate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG DEACTIVATION.
2. Remove RH sound insulator.
3. Remove remote accessory control module (RAC) from bracket. Do not disconnect.
4. Remove mounting bolt from DERM bracket. Slide DERM from bracket.
5. Disconnect electrical connector from DERM, then remove nut attaching bracket to DERM.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque RH sound insulator mounting bolts to 19 inch lbs.
b. Torque bracket attaching nut to 35 inch lbs.
c. Following installation, activate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ACTIVATION.
d. Turn ignition switch to the On position and verify the ``Inflatable Restraint'' indicator flashes 7 to 9 times then turns Off. If indicator does not respond, refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING PROCEDURE/TESTING PROCEDURES/RETRIEVING TROUBLE CODES.
