The 1991 Park Avenue and Ultra with the gage package has two conditions that can turn the charge warning LED light on.
As on past vehicles low alternator output can cause the light to come on. In addition, tbe cluster now monitors incoming voltage. The turn on point for the cluster LED is approximately 10.6 volts. If the voltage should drop to this point, the cluster will internally turn on the charge warning light LED.
If a vehicle has the charge LED on at idle with a heavy load, the alternator output must be checked. If the output is correct, no repair attempt should be made to the charging system. It is entirely possible to have the charge light illuminated and the charging system working properly.
Bulletin to follow when revised parts become available.
