SUBJECT:
MANUAL CLIMATE CONTROL A/C CLUTCH INOPERATIVE

MODELS AFFECTED:
1991 PARK AVENUE


CONDITION:

Customers of 1991 Park Avenues built with "C67" (Manual Climate Control) may comment that the windshield sometimes fogs up after the defrost or defog mode is selected.

CAUSE:

The cause of this condition is an error in the logic of the control head. The head is programmed to only request A/C clutch when A/C is selected.

CORRECTION:

To correct the above condition, a new control head has been designed to request clutch operation in defrost and defog. This control head is matched with the solenoid pack and will require that a new solenoid pack be installed with the new control head.

PARTS INFORMATION:

The new control head can be obtained through GMSPO by ordering part number, (16145214 Heated Back Glass) or (16145204 without Heated Back Glass). The new solenoid pack that must be installed to match the new control head can be obtained through GMSPO by ordering part number 16166674 with and without Heated Back Glass. Parts are currently available from GMSPO.
