Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair
Fuel Rail Removal:
Fuel Rail Assembly Model R630:
REMOVAL:
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Relieve the fuel system pressure, refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELIEF.
3. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the regulator.
4. Remove the fuel line to regulator retaining screw.
5. Remove the regulator to rail attaching screw.
6. Place a shop towel under the regulator to catch any fuel, then remove the regulator assembly from the fuel rail.
7. Remove the O-ring seal, and discard.
INSTALLATION:
1. Lubricate the new O-ring seal with clean engine oil, and install it on the regulator.
2. Install the regulator assembly.
^ Align the regulator bracket with the retainer and spacer assembly mounting hole.
^ If there is not enough thread-locking material on the threads of the pressure regulator to rail attaching screw to ensure proper locking, apply Loctite 262 or equivalent.
3. Install the regulator attaching screw, and tighten to 11.5 Nm (102 lb.in).
4. Attach the fuel return line to the regulator with the retaining screw.
5. Connect the vacuum line to the regulator.
6. Tighten the fuel filler cap.
7. Connect the negative battery cable.
