SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE - SECTION 1B - REAR HVAC COMPRESSOR BRACKET REMOVAL (REMOVAL/INSTALLATION PROCEDURE)

MODELS AFFECTED:
1989-90 REGALS WITH 2.8L ENGINE (VIN CODE W) AND 3.1L ENGINE (VIN CODE T)

The Air Conditioning rear compressor bracket removal and installation procedure has been revised. The following procedure should be used when removing and installing this bracket.

PROCEDURE

A/C COMPRESSOR REAR BRACKET

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Negative battery cable Raise vehicle and suitably support. Refer to General Information (Section 0A).

2. Oil Filter

3. Oil Filter Adapter and Gasket

Clean: - Gasket Surfaces

4. Electrical connectors from A/C compressor and coil pack

5. Spark plug wire loom, position aside

6. Rear A/C compressor bracket bolts.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. Rear A/C compressor bracket bolts

- Tighten:
Bolts to 35 N-m (18 lb.ft.)


2. Spark plug wire loom

3. Electrical connectors to A/C compressor and coil pack

4. Oil Filter adapter gasket and adapter

5. Oil Filter
- Lower vehicle

6. Negative battery cable
- Inspect:
Fluid levels
