B667

Code B667:

Set/Coast Circuit:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:

When the cruise control "ON/OFF" switch is "ON" and the brake is released, system voltage is available at one side of the normally open contacts on the Set/Coast and Resume/Accel switches. If the Set/Coast or the Resume/Accel switches were stuck or their signal wires to the BCM were shorted to voltage, the vehicle could begin cruise operation. To prevent this, code B667 will set and disable cruise control, if signal voltage from the Set/Coast (CKT 84) or Resume/Accel (CKT 87) is "HI" when the cruise control "ON/OFF" switch is turned from "OFF" to "ON" or when the ignition key is turned "ON" and the cruise control "ON/OFF" switch was left "ON." Cruise control will be disabled until the BCM sees a "LO" on both of these signals.

TEST DESCRIPTION: Numbers below refer to circled numbers on the diagnostic chart.

1. BCM inputs B176 and B177 display Set/Coast and Resume/Accel switch status as "HI" or "LO" depending on the voltage state at the BCM. If one of these inputs "HI" when the switches are cycled, that particular switch or signal wire is shorted to voltage.

2. Checks to see if short circuit reading is due to switch or circuit.

NOTE ON INTERMITTENTS:

If an intermittent code B667 is being set, manipulate the related wiring while observing BCM inputs BI76 and BI77. If the failure is induced the reading will jump from "LO" to "HI" with the switch "OFF" (not depressed). This code can also be set by the operator if the cruise "ON/OFF" switch is turned "ON," or the "ON/OFF" switch was left "ON" when the ignition key is turned "ON" and the operator was depressing either the Set/Coast or Resume/Accel switches.
