1. Raise vehicle and support vehicle on frame contact hoist, then remove front wheels.
2. Remove pinch bolt and disconnect intermediate shaft from steering gear.
3. Disconnect tie rods from steering knuckles.
4. Remove power steering line retainer, then disconnect pressure and return lines from steering gear.
5. Remove steering gear mounting bolts, Figs. 13 and 14, then withdraw gear through wheel opening.
6. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten tie rod nuts to 7.5 ft. lbs, then tighten nut an additional 1/3 turn, ensuring torque obtained is at least 33 ft. lbs. After tightening nut as specified, continue tightening nut to align cotter pin holes, then install new cotter pins.
