Code C331:

Tape Deck Circuit:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:

Code C331 will set if the CRTC cannot communicate with the tape deck when the ignition is "ON" and the CRTC is sending a message that the tape deck needs to send back a response.

TEST DESCRIPTION: Numbers below refer to circled numbers on the diagnostic chart.

1. Determining if the problem is only with the tape deck or the data bus.

2. Determines if there is a power ground problem or a communication bus problem.

3. Determines if the problem is due to the ignition #1 circuit or data bus.

4. Determines if the data bus is the problem or the tape deck unit is the problem.

5. Determining if the problem is in the power or ground circuits.

NOTE ON INTERMITTENTS:

If code C331 is set as history, check CKTs 812T, 804T, and 43T for intermittent opens or poor connections. An intermittent open in the data circuit (CKT 835) isolating the tape deck from the CRTC can also cause this problem.
