Front Wheelhouse Splash Shield - Snapping Noise

Bulletin 84-3-11

Date Oct.. '84

Ref. No. 85-014-3
SUBJECT: FRONT WHEELHOUSE SPLASH SHIELD CONTACTING STEERING TIE ROD IN STEERING AND WHEEL JOUNCE MOTIONS

MODELS AFFECTED: 1984 SKYHAWK

WHEELHOUSE SPLASH SHIELD:

A snapping noise may occur on some 1984 Skyhawks during steering or wheel jounce motions, especially during cold weather.

This condition may be caused by contact between the front wheelhouse splash shield and the steering tie rod, and can be corrected by enlarging the splash shield opening by approximately 15 mm (9/16 inch) around its entire circumference, using a knife or shears.
