NOTE: This bulletin is being reissued to correct the bulletin number. Original bulletin 85-1-25, dated Aug. '85 with Ref. No. 85-290-1 should be removed from your 1985 bulletin binder and this one filed in the 1984 bulletin binder.
Some 1984 Skyhawks with the 1.8L engine are sensitive to a moan or growl condition that occurs just above idle. If normal belt tension and system diagnostic checks are unable to eliminate the noise concerns, it may be corrected by replacing the standard compressor with a heavy weight compressor and an inertia ring. The compressor and the inertia ring kit must both be installed.
